<root recordCount="1"><tblPublication pubID="62" title="A prestigious Roman building complex on the Southwark waterfront: excavations at Winchester Palace, London, 1983–90" summaryText="Excavations upstream of Roman London bridge in north Southwark uncovered evidence for mid 1st-century AD land reclamation and the establishment of a road and buildings. The waterfront was extended northwards in &lt;i&gt;c&lt;/i&gt; AD 80 and new buildings, including rectangular and circular masonry buildings associated with grain storage, were constructed around a newly aligned yard or roadway. In the early 2nd century a prestigious new building complex, established on a different alignment, may have had a military or administrative purpose. Ranges of rooms, some plastered and elaborately painted, enclosed a courtyard bath suite. Some of these buildings continued in use until the late 4th century." pageCount="189pp" illustrationCount="111 bl/wh and col ills" datePublished="2005" isItPartOfASeries="1" seriesNumber="23" ISBN="1-901992-51-9" bookBinding="Pb" price="£16.95" publisherEntry="MoLAS" frontCover="win_pal_rom.jpg" availability="1" thumbnail="win_pal_rom_thumb.jpg"><tblAuthors authorName="Brian Yule" /></tblPublication><NewDataSet><Table><pubID>62</pubID><siteKey>2</siteKey><siteCode>28PS84</siteCode><easting>18031</easting><northing>53248</northing><latitude>51.5062028</latitude><longitude>-0.0925011</longitude></Table><Table><pubID>62</pubID><siteKey>141</siteKey><siteCode>HSW90</siteCode><easting>18041</easting><northing>53257</northing><latitude>51.5070803</latitude><longitude>-0.0911675</longitude></Table><Table><pubID>62</pubID><siteKey>142</siteKey><siteCode>HSW98</siteCode><easting>18045</easting><northing>53251</northing><latitude>51.5074539</latitude><longitude>-0.0920164</longitude></Table><Table><pubID>62</pubID><siteKey>227</siteKey><siteCode>NBW90</siteCode><easting>18042</easting><northing>53253</northing><latitude>51.5071794</latitude><longitude>-0.0917397</longitude></Table><Table><pubID>62</pubID><siteKey>257</siteKey><siteCode>PRK90</siteCode><easting>18027</easting><northing>53250</northing><latitude>51.5058386</latitude><longitude>-0.0922281</longitude></Table><Table><pubID>62</pubID><siteKey>346</siteKey><siteCode>WIN85</siteCode><easting>18039</easting><northing>53257</northing><latitude>51.5069006</latitude><longitude>-0.091175</longitude></Table><Table><pubID>62</pubID><siteKey>349</siteKey><siteCode>WP83</siteCode><easting>18042</easting><northing>53259</northing><latitude>51.5067161</latitude><longitude>-0.0908944</longitude></Table><Table><pubID>62</pubID><siteKey>350</siteKey><siteCode>WP84</siteCode><easting>18042</easting><northing>53259</northing><latitude>51.5071656</latitude><longitude>-0.0908758</longitude></Table></NewDataSet></root>
