Historic Environment Desk-Based Assessment
Our Historic Environment Assessments for planning applications are compiled from a broad range of data sources, including the Historic Environment Record and information contained within the MOLA in-house Geographical Information System. This helps to reduce unforeseen risks in both the planning and post-planning stages of development.
MOLA experts assess the potential and significance of known or possible buried archaeological remains on a site, taking into account any factors which may have compromised archaeological survival. A detailed impact assessment of the scheme proposals is included, along with recommendations.
The Heritage Statement is an inclusive built heritage assessment that is submitted with a planning application. It can also be presented as part of a Listed Building or Conservation Area Consent application.
Our expertise in the built environment is applied to identifying the significance of above ground heritage assets and in considering historic character, setting and views. The statement includes a detailed impact assessment and recommendations.
