On Tuesday, 19 July the Museum of London Archaeology Service (MoLAS) hosted a launch of seven new publications, four of them hot from the printers.
The books reflect the variety of publication now going on at MoLAS - from popular booklets and client-funded reports to academic monographs resulting from client-funded PPG16-initiated work, and the English Heritage partnership with MoLAS to produce monographs in the Greater London Publication Programme.
Some of these publications are relatively recent initiatives whilst others are the product of work which began as long as 20 years ago. The titles speak of the range of topics and important research taking place:
This year promises to be a record one for MoLAS publication, with a final total of 13 or 14 books hoped for by Christmas.
A very big thank you goes to the organisations and companies who so generously funded the works: English Heritage for four of the monographs, Marks & Spencer for the forum/basilica work at 168 Fenchurch Street, London Underground Limited for the work at St Mary Stratford Langthorne, and the London Borough of Merton and Wandle Heritage for the Merton Priory booklet.
A full monograph on Merton Priory, funded by English Heritage, is currently being edited and will be coming out in 2006.
