The planning process

Detail from Roques 1746 map of London

Museum of London Archaeology offers expert representation and advice; our goal is to help our clients in finding the most efficient route through the archaeological planning process and obtaining the necessary consents.

The key tools are desk-based studies and field evaluation reports, prepared to meet planning authority requirements, in line with PPGs 15 and 16, and the 1997 EIA Directive.

If archaeological work is specified under a planning condition, MOLA can provide a full 'design and build' service. This will include obtaining Local Planning Authority approval for WSIs, managing fieldwork - from building surveys, to limited watching briefs or full excavations - and seeing projects through to the discharge of the condition.
