London Bridge Tube Station

London Bridge Station is one of the capital's busiest interchanges, with an estimated 17,000 passengers per hour passing through. As part of the Jubilee Line extension, the station's recent renovations made it an ideal locations for a Museum of London Outsite.

During the construction of the station, Museum of London archaeologists excavated a number of sites in and around London Bridge. Extensive evidence of an important Roman settlement was found, as well as Roman Pottery, coins and building materials.

This Outsite has given London Transport the opportunity to display a selection of the finds discovered during the excavation. Objects include a large segment of a Roman floor mosaic found under the railway arches and a 3rd-cenutury amphora, a pottery vessel used to import products such as wine and olive oil from the Mediterranean.

Following the installation of the Outsite, the Museum of London has been fully responsible for designing and implementing a maintenance programme specific to the site.
