Learning and outreach

Working with curators and learning and community staff at the Museum of London we put on and participate in a number of special events, temporary displays, reconstructions and other outreach projects to communicate the fun side of archaeology to as diverse and as a wide an audience as possible.

Where possible we try to create opportunities for adults and children to participate in the practice of excavation either as part of a training dig or as part of a wider research project, or as part of a community excavation.

We also encourage public visits 'backstage' in archaeological offices and laboratories and provide placements for students and volunteers to work alongside archaeologists, whilst remaining keen to maintain and develop our relationships with the many active local history and archaeology societies in the capital.

By regular liaison and meetings with our colleagues in the Museum of London we try to ensure that the results of excavations are brought to London's schoolchildren as soon as possible via the Museum's own Learning web site. Have a look at the 'Digging up the Romans' pages!
