LAARC Lite
LAARC contains over 10km of shelving housing over 250,000 registered finds, 150,000 boxes of general finds and 1000m of paper records, plus a large amount of digital data. Clearly many stories lie hidden on these shelves.
LAARC's collection continues to grow. In the last six months alone we have issued over 200 site codes for archaeological projects whose archives will ultimately be deposited with us, bringing with them new stories and insights into London’s past.
These archives and artefacts, however, do not speak for themselves. LAARC staff run open days and training courses, participate in local festivals, conduct archive tours and organise community excavations. We have even appeared at award ceremonies, in Time Out, on London Tonight and the Time Team, and have been visited by delegations from around the world; events that in themselves produce interesting stories.
Over the next few months, you can keep track of all such developments at the archive. You will be able to read about daily life and special events at the LAARC; find information on some of our favourite archives and artefacts, discoveries and re-discoveries; keep up to date with new archive deposits; and take part in our object of the month competition simply by following the links to the left of this page!
