Guidelines for depositors
We are committed to accepting archaeological archives relating to the London Boroughs and the City of London, provided that they conform to our published guidelines.
These General standards for the preparation of archaeological archives deposited with the Museum of London (1998) can now be downloaded in Portable Document Format (PDF) to be read via Adobe Acrobat.
The Standards document is arranged in three sections.
- Part 1 deals with overall issues and discusses the preparation of archives in the widest sense
- Part 2 specifies the particular standards and presentational requirements for archives being deposited with the Museum of London
- Part 3 specifies the legal matters that need to be resolved when depositing archives in the Museum of London. It also contains specimen checklists for the categories of fieldwork
Appendices list UK suppliers of approved storage media and illustrate some typical site, artefact and environmental recording sheets.
