Museum of London Archaeology

The Museum of London is internationally renowned for its archaeological work. We operate both a commercial archaeological service  - Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) - and an archaeological archive and research centre.

Excavations at Shakespeare's Theatre

Museum of London Archaeology has resumed excavations on the site of Shakespeare’s first purpose-built theatre.

The excavations have the potential to unearth finds that shed light on Shakespearean theatres and life in Shakespearean London.

Museum of London Archaeology Publications

A new MOLA book reports on excavations at the Royal Navy victualling yard in East Smithfield, London, the first large-scale naval food supply base in Britain.

London Archaeological Archive and Research Centre (LAARC)

Archives stored at the LAARC

Over 150 new archives have been deposited at the LAARC so far this year.

These include the archive for 15-16 Bedford Street, WC2 (BDO04), where evidence for Saxon activity was revealed including a craft workshop as represented by a large quantity of antler and bone working waste.
