Chris Thomas has ten years' experience of managing major projects. In May 2007, he was appointed Senior Consultant, responsible for developing MOLA business and leading a team of Contract Managers. He now has responsibility for developing new business and managing a team of regional project managers within MOLA's subsidiary, MetroMOLA. He is part of the Senior Management Group, responsible for the overall direction and success of MOLA. Prior to this appointment, he supervised major excavations including medieval monastic sites such as the Priory and Hospital of St Mary Spital, Westminster Abbey and the London Charterhouse.

Chris has also carried out detailed recording of standing historic buildings, and has excavated a wetland site with Bronze Age timber trackway. His work on excavations in Westminster has particularly involved the later prehistoric periods, the late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval periods, while excavations in Spitalfields have involved the Roman, medieval and post-medieval periods.

Chris has produced a large number of articles and publications including, very recently, “The Archaeology of Medieval London” – an account of London in the medieval period, describing up-to-date archaeological discoveries that throw new light onto the history of the medieval capital. Chris is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.
